Happy Halloween!

This past weekend, I went to a Halloween party and went as a "Greek Goddess". It was a somewhat last minute costume. I fashioned a white sheet into a toga, and accessorized with gold. Remember my pink and green toga from my junior year? Are you dressing up this Halloween? Apparently, Halloween in Pittsburgh is cancelled until Saturday due to Sandy... what a Debbie-downer that Sandy is... who know they could postpone a holiday?! Have a fab-BOO-lous Halloween!

#Tuckernucking

Have you checked out the fabulous online boutique, Tuckernuck? I know I overuse "fabulous", but really, Tuckernuck (aka Tnuck), takes the cake for fabulousness.  I had already loved their sister site, UScoop and have warmly welcomed Tnuck into the loop. They have lots of pretties... here are my top picks to get you Tuckernucking...

I love love love ducks and this decanter set is so perfect for a post-grad bar in a new apartment. This would make a great hostess gift as well!

Tuckernuck offers many Elizabeth McKay's designs. I love the simplicity of the Priscilla shirt

I can't stop staring at the Courage B bag. I think the orange shade is the perfect pop of color for any outfit.

The lovely team at Tuckernuck were generous enough to send me a K. Slademade clutch and I am in love! The leather is soft and a pretty deep brown hue with navy blue accents. The tassel is my favorite part! It also, surprisingly, holds a lot of things which is great-- I have trouble finding clutches that hold all of my necessities.

So what I am carrying in my K. Slademade clutch for a night on the town (click the picture to enlarge)?
Have you shopped Tuckernuck? What do you carry in your clutch when you step out? Have a fabulous day!

Friday Five (Random Thoughts Version)

This Friday post is super random because I have had a super busy/exciting week and have been working a ton. Here are a few thoughts... (p.s. like the selfie?!)
  • My face is super shiny. All. The. Time. Seriously though, I need a solution. I already use those blotting papers and powder. Anyone have any thoughts on my situation?
  • Has anyone tried the at home gel manicure kits? I am totally interested! I have seen them at Wally World and want to try them out if they work well!
  • I just got a new makeup bag from Target (of all places) and it is the cutest! I am going to have to do a post on it because it is so perfect!
  • What are you being for Halloween?! This is the first Halloween that I haven't planned something out in advance-- I need quick and easy suggestions for a Halloween party tomorrow night!
  • cCm is going to do a blog or two here on Summer Wind every month. Do you have any ideas for her? She is going to write about her experience at Kentucky so far, what she is loving for fall/winter and Keeneland/tailgating. Any other suggestions would be great.
Alright, that is all before I bored everyone to tears. Happy Friday!!!!!

sCe

Apartment Style

I, along with my peers are at the age when you are either living on your own in a new apartment, planning to make the move, or still in a college dorm/apartment. Like me, it is heavily on my mind. When to move? Where to move? Who to live with? I remember in college, I would get slight bouts of homesickness. To battle this, I think it is important to add touches of home to wherever you may end up. Here are some of my picks so you can "feel home".

These Maya Brenner state necklaces are perfect. They are the perfect, thoughtful gift. I want a Virginia, Pennsylvania and Georgia one to layer. They are the perfect reminder of the places that you love.

You can also get framed photographs. I know at Ikea's in Pittsburgh they sell gorgeous blown up photos of the Pittsburgh skyline. It would be great to have it framed and hang it in your new place! I found that Art.com was a great resource... they had everything from the D.C. skyline to the Pittsburgh skyline to the Chicago skyline.

Ork Posters! Is another great resource. I love how they map out neighborhoods in each city! They have places like D.C., Manhattan and Chicago... unfortunately, no Pittsburgh!

Etsy is another great resource. Sometimes you can find people and have something commissioned and sometimes you can find something ready for purchase. I am obsessed with this print of Pittsburgh.

State pillows/flag pillows are a great way to add a home-y touch to any space.

I love the options that Uncommon Goods offers. The hand embroidered pillows are the cutest... cCm needs this one!

These dishtowels would make a great housewarming gift and remind anyone of home!

Do you have anything in your space that reminds you of home? Have a fabulous day!

Green Gown

I've noticed that I have a thing for green gowns. The other evening I caught a few minutes of Atonement on TV. I hadn't seen the film for a while and it was the part where Keira Knightley is in a fabulous green gown.

How fabulous is this dress?!

Remember when I posted about this gorgeous green frock?! Sidenote... is that MK or Ashley?!

If you have a holiday soiree to attend that requires you to look a tad more fabulous than usual, I say go for a green frock!
Have a fabulous day!

Personalized Bling

I remember seeing an ad for this gorgeous bracelet in a magazine (I think it was Town and Country). This is the definition of a luxe bracelet. It is Ralph Lauren's chunky chain ID braclet. It's 18k gold and engraved with diamonds. Part of me thinks it is a bit tacky and then part of me loves it... what do you think? It also comes in a more affordable silver option

Have a fabulous day!

TSwizzle:RED

So I think this post needs to be prefaced with a little background. I know my music, really, I do. I played violin for 10 years and piano through high school. I have a taste for classical music all the way to rap music. Frank Sinatra and the rest of the Rat Pack are my favorites. However...are you ready for it.... I LOVE TAYLOR SWIFT. Ok, so I know not everyone is going to agree with me, but I love her. I love her hair, her music, her lyrics (with a few exceptions... ahem "We are never ever ever getting back together"), everything about her. While all of her songs really do sound similar, I can't help but love everything about her tunes.

Why post about my love for Taylor today? Because her album RED is out today! I am heading straight to Target after work to pick up the CD (Normally I would get it right at midnight on iTunes, but if you purchase it at Target, you get several bonus songs). I remember when Speak Now came out in 2010. I was living in the ZTA sorority house and my sorority sisters and I downloaded the entire album at midnight and had Sparks Fly on repeat for weeks! Now when I listen to anything on that album, I think of my junior year and the fun times I had with my sorority sisters!

I already love "I Knew You Were Trouble" and when "We are never ever ever getting back together" came out, I listened to it on repeat for days!

Plus, she is dating Conor Kennedy, who I think is just too cute and a prepster!

Taylor even hung out with him on Cape Cod... adorable!

Are you a TSwift lover or hater? Are you jamming out to Red today? Have a fabulous day!

Barbour

I've been dying for a Barbour jacket forever. I really cannot remember a time when I didn't have it on my wishlist. Well, I've finally made the Barbour Beaufort mine. It was about time. Priced at $400, some may think it's a bit steep for a waxed cotton jacket but Barbour has been doing outerwear forever
The Beaufort is very similar to the Bedale and Beadnell... all those B's can get confusing! The Beaufort is a tad longer in length than the Bedale. The Beaufort is meant for hunting... there's even a pocket in the back for your "catch"... Yeah, I don't think I will be putting any dead animals in the back of my Beaufort jacket.

The Barbour should last years... maybe even your whole life! So here are things that you should add on with your Barbour purchase:
A liner is important so you can wear your jacket year round. It easily zips right in and is only around $100. I got one because here in Pittsburgh it gets freezing and I wouldn't be able to wear the jacket without the liner!

A tin of wax. It is recommended that you reproof your jacket every year. You can have it professionally done or you can do it yourself. Hint: NEVER wash your Barbour or have it dry cleaned. You can't really clean it at all except for using a damp cloth.

Barbour scarf. Barbour makes scarves in many different tartans; each tartan matches the inside of the jacket. The tartan above is the "classic" which matches any Barbour jacket that is olive in color.

Detachable hood. With so many options, you can truly personalize your Barbour jacket to suit yourself and your lifestyle. Do you have a Barbour jacket? Have a fabulous day!

Wanted

I have been creating wishlists nonstop. It's fun being a post-grad because you can actually afford things on your own. So, similar to a to-do list, I am slowly but surely crossing things off my wishlist. Here are some that I have yet to cross off...
Rayban Clubmasters. I honestly cannot come up with a single reason why I need these. I already have the classic Rayban aviators along with a whole slew of other nice sunglasses options. I just want them... and bad-- they're so classic and really never go out of style.

J. Crew Biennial Satchel. I've seen this bag in person and it is drop dead gorgeous. It is actually huge which is just what I need to haul all of my stuff to work everyday. I love the navy color too.

I had a pair of Target rainboots from my freshman year of college but I never wore them. I hated the way my feet froze in them and I had bean boots which I always relied on when it rained. I really like these Hunter rainboots-- they are much more stylish and flatter and with a thick sock and liner, hopefully they wouldn't have my feet frozen by the end of the day!
Jack Wills Lyndhurst Umbrella. I love the pheasant print and the fall color scheme. So perfect!
What is on your wishlist? Have a fabulous day!

In the Liquor Cabinet...

I think it is interesting to see inside someone's liquor cabinet or bar cart. I have been keeping my eye out for pretty bar carts to add to my apartment once I move. For now, I'll show you what's inside our liquor cabinet.  My parents entertain a lot and so they have any liquor imaginable for each guest's preference.

When looking to fill your bar cart or cabinet, you should have the following liquors:
-Gin
-Vodka
-Bourbon
-Tequilla
-Vermouth
-Whiskey
-Rum
-Scotch

Also, always have several bottles of red/white wine on hand, champagne and a few choices of beer. Not pictured are mixers such as tonic, club soda, juices, sodas, etc. An ice bucket is another necessity. There are so many fun ice bucket options which also make a great housewarming/hostess gift.

It's also good to have some cute bar accessories. Shot glasses are key!

This is a fun tailgating necessity... the glasses turn into the lid for easy transportation!

Stirrers and openers in fun themes are a cute addition.

What do you have in your bar car/cabinet? Have a fabulous day!

Cocktail Recipe

When I went to visit cCm in Kentucky, I had a cocktail that is definitely worth posting about. Here's what you'll need:

1 oz. Maker's Mark
1/2 oz. Orange Liqueur
Orange wedge
Fill with gingerale

First you muddle the orange wedge in the bottom of the glass, add some ice, add the Maker's and orange liqueur and fill with gingerale. It is so tasty and delicious and is a great fall drink!

We recreated it at home this past weekend and it was fabulous! What is your go-to fall drink? Have a fabulous day!

Country Squire Haberdashery

Today I wanted to highlight a Summer Wind sponsor because of some fabulous OOTD's I put together a few weeks ago compliments of Country Squire Haberdashery. The fabulous boutique located in Florida at Lauderdale By the Sea has any woman or man's preppy need. From Vinyeyard Vines to Lilly, they have got you covered.

Isn't the embroidered Castaway Clothing skirt adorable? I paired it with the J. Crew Schoolboy Blazer and a Ralph Lauren white oxford for a work appropriate look.

This was a post work outfit on one of the last warm days of the season. The Lilly sweater kept me warm while the patchwork Callahan shorts popped!

I think the Angela Moore bracelet topped off the look well, don't you? Have you shopped CSH? Check it out if you haven't:
