Fresh Face

Here is the second installment of my makeup routine. I have said this before, and I will say it again: I'm not that into makeup. I like what I like and don't really tend to switch it up too much. Every once in a while, I will go to Sephora or even the drugstore to try things out, but I am pretty set in my ways. I also like things simple and clean and try to keep my routine as minimal as possible!

Every night before I go to bed, I wash my face. I get my eye makeup off with Clean and Clear makeup dissolving foaming cleanser. It's gentle and works super fast.
Then, I wash my face with Phisoderm anti-belmish gel facial wash. I have experimented with a lot of different cleansers and I have to say that I really like this one. It's very light and gentle and not overly drying. It also has a nice, clean scent.
If I shower, I use Philosophy's microdelivery exfoliating wash. This is very gentle, the only thing I don't love is that it is oddly scented. When I wake up in the morning, I just wipe a cool cloth over my face before make-up application.
If I have any blemishes, I dab a little Epiduo on the spots. This is by prescription only but it literally works wonders. I don't have acne and rarely get zits, but when I do, this gets rid of them over night. My face does get really shiny easily, if anyone knows any way to fix this, please let me know!
I don't know what I would do without my brush holder from Vera Bradly. I love how it unrolls and I can see everything laid out flat. I have a lot of brushes and most I don't use. The VB holder came with brushes but I don't use any of them because they aren't the right sizes for what I need. The VB brushes are nice quality though. I have a set from Clinique as well and I really dislike them-- they are itchy! I really like my Sephora and Sonia Kashuk brushes (Target). I have never gotten my eyebrows waxed or had anything done to them. I just occasionally pluck them with Tweezerman tweezers (in my opinion, they're the best!).

Next up is the rest of my makeup routine. Do you have any "must try" products to check out? What do you use to get a fresh face before you start putting on your makeup? Have a fabulous day!

sCe

Just Madras: A One Stop Shop

There are not many brands where you can find yourself something for any occasion. However, Just Madras has to be one of the only one-stop-shopping brands for summer. I can't get enough!
I am currently in the market for a new make-up bag and this one seems to fit the bill pretty darn well. Plus, they monogram practically everything. Major plus.
Kentucky Derby, Carolina Cup, Foxfield? The Ellie has you covered. I know Lilly is the go-to for the races, but I find that 100 girls have the same dress as me when I wear Lilly so Just Madras will help me to stand out and fit in!
When I need to fill my preppy jewelry fix, Just Madras also has me covered.
I just had my formal this past weekend but bEw's formal is in D.C. on a boat on the Potomac... on my 22nd birthday. So basically I need the most perfect dress. I think that the Kimberly in silk would be absolutely perfect, unique, and classy for the event. Hmm... Mom, Dad, are you reading this? I even have the perfect gold strappy sandals to match!
The Allie is my second pick for a semi/formal dress. The back it TDF. I picture this with lots and lots of pearls and fun gold bangles!
I guess bEw needs something to wear to his formal as well... I mean, seriously, how cute?
A new working girl, perhaps? Pair this with a navy or white pencil skirt and some fabulous navy wedges and fun cardigan and you are set.
Throw on the Kyle skirt for some Saturday errands or Sunday brunch!
See? I told you Just Madras was a one stop shop! Have a fabulous day!

Love for your Lips!

I get a lot of questions about my beauty routine. Instead of posting all of my products at once, I figured I would do it in segments so it's easier to get through! I've done several beauty segments in the past, but just realize how much they have changed over the years ( see: here, here, here, here, here, and here). So I am going to start with all of the lip products that I own that I love (I also own a ton that I am not really a fan of, but won't share those!).
From left to right:
  1. Covergirl Outlast lipstain in 415  (a must have!!)
  2.  Kiehl's lip gloss in Earth Day
  3. Sephora lipgloss in Gold and Glow (all of mine are in the old tube version, they're now sold with wands)
  4. Sephora Lip Gloss in Bronze Beauty (one of my absolute favorite shades!)
  5. Philosophy Lip Shine in Pumpkin Spice (seasonal at Sephora--so shiny and smells/tastes delicious!)... my next Philosophy Lip Shine will be Raspberry because of the pretty color!
  6. Tarte Lipsurgence in Flashy (very pink)
  7. Dior Addict Lipstick in Spotlight (the perfect shade for my skin tone, very popular color... but the tube is small and you don't get much for $30!)
  8. Almay One Coat Lip Color in Luscious (inexpensive and my go-to when I want to rock the red lips!)
  9. Korres Liquid Lipstick in Raspberry.. I like the way it feels but it is kind of hard to apply. Definitely need a mirror for this stuff!
  10. Outlast lipstain 430 (another favorite-- this one is BRIGHT!)
  11. Lorac Couture Shine in Glam (very shiny)
What are your favorite lip products? Next up, face makeup! Have a fabulous day!

Take Notes

With graduation looming, I have realized that I have my note taking/list making system down to a science. I am a huge list person; as I know a lot of my followers are as well so I thought I'd share my system!
I love my Stabilo point 88 pens. They are seriously the best pens; the only gripe I have is that they bleed through the paper sometimes. I also love my Lilly notes. They aren't sticky so I can put them anywhere and everywhere!
I usually make a list each night of what I need to get done before the next day. I literally write everything down, even my laundry and painting my nails. I also make lists in categories. For example right now on my desk, I have an e-mail list, a blog list, a homework list, shopping list, and social list. It's nuts. But it feels so great to completely check your list off and then throw it away!
I like to take my notes in multiple colors (usually 2). I feel more organized and that way I can make the more important information jump off the page.
I print out each syllabus and make notes so I never miss when anything is due (true story: never in my schooling life have I ever turned in anything late). I print each one a lot smaller than they are on the actual syllabus and then tuck them into my agenda so I'm never without them!

What are your note-taking and organizational skills for college or high school? Share your tips! I am always looking for a way to be even more organized!!

sCe

Look For Less: Mad Men Style

It is no secret that I am obsessed with Mad Men. Thus, this means that I am loving Mad Men for Banana Republic! My favorite piece in the collection is...
It's the perfect shade of pink, I love that it is 100% silk and the price point of $150 is definitely reasonable. I also love the silhouette it creates. So classic and lady-like. Welllllllll..... my jaw dropped when I saw this...
This very similar dress is 1/5 of the price of the Banana Republic dress. Of course you will find this dress at none other than Forever21! I say this time and time again; I am not a huge Forever21 fan, but when I want something for a certain occasion, or want to try a trend, or am in a frazzled shopping spree mode, I turn to Forever21. I don't expect great quality or a great fit, but I'd say for a fifth of the price, I'll take it!

What do you think? Do you shop looks for less? What is your take on Forever21? Have a fabulous day!

Spring Fancies

I have received several e-mails along with Tumblr questions regarding my favorite things for spring and into summer... Here we go!
Peplum tops! This would look SO cute with skinny white denim, espadrilles, and an arm party full of gold bamboo bangles.
Another adorable peplum option from Asos. I picture this with black bermudas and gold jack rogers.

Bright, printed bikinis. This Mara Hoffman number is on my wish list!
The Just Madras Mackenzie dress! They have SO many great new things for this spring/summer!
What are you loving for spring/summer? I can tell you that I've already broken out many spring pieces because the weather here in Virginia has felt like June! Have a fabulous day!

Tervis Does it Again!

This post was supposed to post yesterday, however, Blogger decided to malfunction on me and misbehave. So, here we go, with what was supposed to be yesterday's post!

Have you seen that Tervis has come out with water bottles? I have been a Tervis fan for as long as I can remember. To say I am obsessed is a bit of an understatement. Tervis generously sent me a water bottle for review. I already have my beloved Camelbaks so I was wondering if this would be a great alternative. It definitely is.
It holds 24 oz. which is awesome because I am consciously trying to drink more water to keep hydrated. I hate having to fill up my water bottle all of the time so this is great! It is double-walled like all Tervis products so it really doesn't sweat which is great. That is something I hate about my Camelbak-- it sweats and gets all over my paper and books when I put it in my tote so I end up having to carry the water bottle.
The darker grey circle is where you push on the lid to open. It's pretty easy and convenient.
This is the mouth when you open it. It's possible to spill once it is opened but it is sealed really well otherwise. I have been using this to drink water/soda water with crystal light packets and whenever I shake vigorously, nothing ever spills. It is also dishwasher safe-- another bonus because Camelbak's don't hold up well in the dishwasher (especially if they have a design. I have one with my sorority letters on it and I never wash it in the dishwasher because the letters wear off.

This is definitely a great waterbottle for any gender or any age-- I give it the Summer Wind stamp of approval! I've literally been using it every single day since I received it. Have you tried the Tervis waterbottle?
Have a fabulous day!

sCe

Spring Break Continued!

I started my spring break at about 6:00pm on a Wednesday, and got the rest of that week and then the following week to relax, spend time with my family, and with bEw and his family at his beach house. I feel like I did so much, I don't even know where to begin.
I had a bright blue margarita which was quite tasty!
I ate so much good food. Needless to say I need to hit the gym after this break! Above were my Asian noodles from a noodle place in Fairfax-- SO yummy!
One night, my parents hosted a cocktail party and there was so much food it felt like Thanksgiving times ten!
I tried the statement nail again but still feel like it looks like I accidentally painted one nail. Not to sure this "trend" is for me! On a side note, I tried the Sally Hansen nail stickers and hated them! I know they have received many great reviews but mine chipped easily and were difficult to put on. I think that my nails look much better when I just paint them myself.
I was very active this spring break so a lot of my outfits consisted of casual outfits that were easy to move in.
While at the beach, I scored two Old Navy boat neck, striped tees. I have been looking for these everywhere but finally found them! To my bad luck, I cannot find the boat shirt from Old Navy! It is driving me crazy!
More delicious food! Turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and mayo on a toasted wheat bread with Cape Cod chips!
My dad went on a short business trip and brought back each of the girls in the family something special. I love the opal and amethyst ring he brought back for me! My mom and sister each got their first pair of cowboy boots.
I finally had my hair done. It was MUCH needed. I always have anxiety about getting my hair done. I'm not sure why because my stylist is amazing and I have been going to her literally forever and she has never done anything I didn't like, however, I just get so nervous!
I tried some Dogfish head beer and liquors. I am not really a beer or vodka person but it was fun to sample lots of different offerings!
I updated my spring wardrobe with an array of brights and patterns. I am loving all of the bright colors-- however the neon I see everywhere is just not for me. It reminds me of old 80's style clothing or rave parties...I just can't find room for neon in my wardrobe. But don't get me wrong, I love it styled on others! Have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe
