Sleeping in Style

For anyone that loves madras (I can't get enough of it!) check out Cape Madras, they are currently having a 50% off sale, they have such cute things! Brooks Brothers is also having a great sale, so stop over and check that out! (sale ends July 7th)

Being in college, your friends, and guys see you at odd times during the day, and night. For example, when you are in your pajamas! This past year, I learned that you can't just walk around in a camisole and bRc's old boxer shorts. You need something that covers up more, and are at least a little nicer (ok, ok, a LOT nicer), because who knows who could show up! So I'm on the hunt for the cutest pajamas! I do love buying J.Crew boxers with a matching top, so it kind of looks like a coordinating outfit, but I want some more options. Here are some things I'm wanting and comment and tell me where your favorite PJ's are from!
Brooks Brothers
Lilly Pulitzer 50th Anniversary Pink Toile Mandarin Capri Pajama

Vineyard VinesCharter Club A steal for only $19 How stinking cute!!!!

I hope everyone has a lovely Tuesday! I'm off to a lovely dinner out with bff kJa!

Weekend Re-cap

I had the greatest weekend! I shopped and had dinner with bff's kMl and kBm and then we had a great time hanging out with people that we went to highschool with. We went to Houlihans for dinner, and it is SO good..If you have one near you, definitely order the burger, it's the best thing there, and it's very reasonably priced! During our shopping trip, we visited several stores..

-Victoria's Secret is having their semi-aunnual sale, did not buy anything, but it looked like there was lots to choose from
-I went into J.Crew, and they had a pretty large amount of sale stuff, but none of it I was impressed with, so I left with just a cute silver headband.
Lancôme OSCILLATION Vibrating. Infinite. Powermascara-We all tried out the Lancôme OSCILLATION Vibrating. Infinite. Powermascara.... And all three of us LOVED it. At first when we turned the applicator on, we laughed because it literally vibrates like a cell phone.. and we thought it would never work, but we noticed that our lashes looked longer. It's a little pricey at $34, but I just may go back and buy a tube. Does anyone use this mascara? I wonder how it is on a day to day basis?
- Origins is having a free facial appointment period. Go in today and you can make an appointment, how cool is that?

On saturday, I went to a family friend's gradutation party with my family. It was an incredible party! She had a carnival theme, and had one of those huge blow up bounce house, it was really neat, and she had a cotton candy machine and a popcorn machine. It was all decorated up like a carnival. SO cute. The food was also very good, and it was so good to spend time with family and friends. Here are some pictures from the evening:

Today my family and I went to our CC for a family golf event. Unfortunately, it rained a bit, and we had to put our foul weather gear on, but then the sun came out and it was nice. We all played alright, but I'm not a very good golfer in the first place! My parents got me a Slazenger pink and green golf skort, it is SO cute, here is a picture of my sister and I from the event:cCm, and I. You can't tell in this picture, but the skirt is white with a pink and green design, I Love it!!!

I also completely finished reading ? Letitia Baldridge's New Manners For New Times. Has anyone else read through this entirely? I'm all about reding etiquette books, and having manners, but this book I thought, was ridiculous. I mean, for a dinner party, she said to usually spend around $800, and just some rather odd things. I think that this book is for the millionaire, society pages group, becuase a lot of the information was interesting, but didn't apply to a suburb living woman. If you've read it, let me know what you think!

I hope you all have a super sunday!

sCe

Bergdorf Blondes

I just finished reading Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes. It was a great book. It doesn't have a lot of depth to it, which personally, I like because for the past 8 months, I've been reading economics text books and psychology textbooks. It is a great, light, beach appropriate read. It's all about the world of the Upper East Side, high fashion, and dating drama. I definitely reccomend it! I read it in a few days, and really enjoyed it! Here is an overview of the book.
My next tackle is Celebutantes, The Second Assistant, and I am currently reading through New Manners For New Times. I'll let you know how these go when I am done. I also just finished re-reading The Preppy Handbook. I haven't read it for several years, and it was a great, quick easy read, as of course, I'm sure most of you know!

Does anyone out there love Talbots? I used to work there (Talbots Kid's, before it closed :( so sad!), as some loyal readers know! Well if you love Talbots classic clothing, they are having the red hanger clearance sale! Here is what's currently sitting in my shopping bag:
Silk doupioni roll-neck tunic $79.99. I would love to wear this with white capris!
Printed Floral Skirt $79.99 This would be great for a luncheon!Silk Scarf Belt $39.99 Would be darling around a simple white dress!Paisley Heeled Thongs $79.99 I love all things paisley!

I hope you all have a great day! Tomorrow is Friday :) !

Release Me

Everyone, check out "Release Me" by Agnes Carlsson. I heard it on Satellite radio the other day, they were doing top songs from around the world, and this woman is from the UK, she kind of reminds me of Cher a little bit but I love it! It's such a catchy song. Listen to it while working out, and believe me, you will want to work out a little longer/harder, it really gets me motivated!

Last night, I went to bRc's and he cooked me dinner! bRc is a great cook, WAY better than I am! He made me quesadillas and they were fantastic! He sauteed chicken, onions and peppers in a pan with just a little olive oil and brown sugar, and then he grated cheddar cheese and melted it all together on a wheat tortilla. It was SO good, and so easy to do, I might try it out on my own!
Well, since he cooked for me last night and I was so impressed, I decided to bake some funfetti today, which is the extent of my baking skills. I need to take some classes! But I bought this fun icing for the funfetti:It's just white icing but it has red and blue sprinkles that are shaped like stars and and stripes. It is so cute, I'll take a picture when I ice it and post it on my next post. If it turns out nice, I will definitely be stocking up for fourth of July weekend! I baked a cake, but for fourth of July, I will bake cupcakes and put them in red white and blue cupcake paper and put toothpick flags in each! They always make such a cute treat to bring along with you to a fourth of July party!

I go to Maryland to see my "Big sister" in less than 3 weeks, I am counting down the days until her and I re-unite! I still need gift ideas, so keep them coming, you all are so great with ideas, so thank you!
Another thank you goes out to Domestic Diva for posting such kind things about me! I tagged her in 10 things you don't know about me; her blog is always so fun to read, so stop by and leave her a comment!
I hope everyone is having a terrific Tuesday!

Yours,
sCe

A girl's best friend.

I absolutely love my Australian Cattle Dog, Mac. He is my best friend in the entire world! Why, you ask am I bringing this up? Well now, you can include your pup during cocktail hour! I was reading Town and Country today and I saw a blurb about a Wine company called Cru Vin Dogs.

"Cru Vin Dogs tracks down exceptional vineyards and small lots of wine throughout the world to craft masterful blends of exceptional quality and value, and brings them directly to you, the consumer. Our mission is simple: We exist to combine our passions – friendship, wine, art, our love of dogs and worthy causes – into a wine brand with a purpose. Wine that gives back. Wine that makes a difference." Cru Vin Dogs website

How creative is that! There is a picture of a dog on each label and the name of the breed of dog. I love anything that has anything to do with dogs, so I think this is a great thing. It would make such a great hostess gift, if the hostess has a particular dog that the company features. They don't have an Australian Cattle dog, but if they did, I would definitly get a bottle, and then frame the label.

Also, How absolutely adorable is this bathing suit?! It's the Stella Mccartney Hannah Bikini. If it wasn't $545, it would surely be mine! It has sailboats and it is one of my favorite colors: Navy Blue! If anyone has an extra large amount of cash sitting around (ha!) to purchase a bathing suit well, I think you should buy this one!

I hope everyone has a lovely Monday night. And thanks to everyone out there who reads my blog. I love getting comments whenever I check my blog, it's so exciting! Remember, you can always e-mail me at SummerWind41490@gmail.com, I love getting e-mails too!

Searching for the perfect gift... Help!

First off, I have to say, you absolutely need to try San Pellegrino Limonata! I had it for the first time about a month ago at a Brick Oven pizza restaurant and I loved it. It's like very fizzy more tart than sweet, lemonade. It's truly refreshing. Well, I didn't know where on earth you could buy those cute little bottles and today my dad came home from a business trip and had about 20 of the bottles for me! He said he found them in a Trader Joes near the hotel. A Trader Joes is about 45 minutes away from where I live so I've never been to one, but if you live near one, you must try the drink!

Now onto my real post... In a few weeks, I will be visiting my "big sister" (from my sorority) at her home in Maryland! I am too excited and cannot wait. I have been away from her for too long. I need a great house warming gift to bring her and her family for having me for the weekend, and I haven't a clue what I should bring! I need you to help me! Please please please if you have any ideas on a great idea for a house warming gift, let me know! My big and I met in September when I was pledging Zeta of course! She was one of the first sisters I met and we just hit it off. We both have a love for all things preppy and colorful and fashionable (she has the best wardrobe ever!) and we both have boyfriends that don't go to our university. When I first met her, she had the cutest ZTA letters on, they were little whales from J.Crew, I loved it! She, like me, loves anything girly and fun, and her parents are so generous and nice. My big and I went to the Atlantis in March (which was beyond fabulous) along with her family, and they are just so hospitable and lovely people so I really want to bring something nice! They live on a river and have a pool and hot tub as well so I am super excited to see her and spend the weekend with her! So if you have any ideas at all, please let me know! Here are some pictures of my big and I from this past school year:
Big and I on the balcony of our room at AtlantisMe, Big, and Grand Big at Christmas CocktailWe both wore purple and we didn't even plan it! Great minds think alike ;)
Gbig, me and Big
At Atlantis after the best meal ever at Seafire Steakhouse, if you are going to Atlantis, it's a must to dine there. I had the best steak ever there! The girl in the middle is my big's real sister, she is just as lovely as my big!

So if you have any ideas, I would appreicate it very much!

Another movie to blog about!!! Gran Torino is such a great movie! bRc had been bugging me for a while to see it and every time I see a preview for it, I think it's a "manly" movie, but it was so great! It even left me with a tear at the end. I recommend it for everyone (it does have a lot of innapropriate words and violence so definitely not for the kids!) Here is the trailer, rent it today!:

I hope everyone has a lovely night!

sCe

Every Step of the Way

Well, this post is going to be all over the place...
Does anyone else enjoy jazz artist David Benoit? I thought I would share one of my favorites by him called Every Step of the Way it's a beautiful song and great for having drinks on your back patio or just relaxing and reading. Here is a video from YouTube playing his song live (I also recommend you get "The Best of David Benoit" and "Here's To You Charlie Brown"):

On the topic of music, has anyone seen the Bacardi Mojito commercial? I love the song, it's catchy, and very different than anything I've heard in quite a while, it even gets me going when working out! The song is called Daylight by Matt and Kim. Check it out and tell me what you think!

Check out The Weather Channel for a Blackberry giveaway! They are giving away 30 phones this month. How neat would it be to win a free phone!

I have a question for all you bloggers out there. It could be controversial considering it has something to do with politics but what do you think of Michelle Obama's wardrobe? The media is comparing her to style icons such as Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn. Check out this article from Vivre Magazine Online. It's not that I don't think that she is dressed very well, and I admire many of her frocks and other outfits, I just do not think she should be compared to Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn so soon. Audrey and Jackie are trule style icons, however, this woman has been in the whitehouse for 6 months and already they are ready to promote her to a legendary style icon. Also, If Gap was around in Audrey's era or Jackie's era they would not be dressing in $40 Gap blouses and chinos or a $150 White House Black Market dress. It's not that I think that you need to spend a lot of money on your clothing to be a style icon or even a well dressed person, I just think it's more appropriate for the First Lady, the woman that is representing our country to be dressed in things made for her or things at least a little more high end than Gap! I can see where people are coming from when they say that she represents that average American woman who wears Gap on a daily basis, (heck I think I dress as well as her, and give me her budget, and I'm sure I could do better and I haven't even graduated college yet!) but she is not the average American woman! Not to be a total drag about Michelle Obama, so here are some very lovely pictures of her in First Lady-worthy clothing:I hope you all have a marvelous Monday night!

Come Fly With Me...

So, I was perusing the PreppyJournal, and I found this article about the way flying used to be. It caught my eye, it was about Pan Am which ended in 1991. It caught my eye because I absolutely LOVE the movie Catch Me If You Can. Seriously who doesn't like that movie. Now of course, I wasn't born when flying was a luxury and you got all dressed up to get on a plane. I'm in the era of sweatpants, arriving hours before your flight so you can get through security, and eating the crappy airport food, because on some flights, peanuts aren't even offered! I mean it's all understood considering the devastating event of 9/11.. But If I had experienced the glamorous days of air travel, I think I would miss them very much. At my age, I am very lucky to have been able to travel as much as I have and to experience many different flights (and even had my share of wonderful first class flights) however, while reading up on Pan Am airlines, I saw pictures such as these. Don't they just make you want to be able to travel like our parents and grandparents were able to? Well, you all can once again, although it will cost you. Big time! No, it's not on Pan Am, but on Singapore Airlines. I always see ads for this airline in Town and Country magazine, and have always thought the picture is amazingly cool but I have never looked into it. Well, I became curious and decided to look into it! The pictures are absolutely amazing, I mean seriously it's worth your time to google image search it because these planes are to die for. My house isn't as nice as these planes. Economy class even has huge leather seats with their own big viewing screen to watch movies or go onto the internet. But, as you are probabaly not surprised, for 1 adult to fly from my city to Sydney, Australia in the lowest "Economy Class", it costs $2,280. Yes, just imagine how many pairs of Loubitons you could buy, or how many nights out to dinner you could have, or how many nights you could spend in an ocean front room at The Breakers in Palm Beach. Now I realize that this airplane is a once in a lifetime thing, so I have decided that I wish to someday travel on an airplane as grand as Pan Am was or as exquisite as Singapore Airlines is. Here are some eye-catching photos:Sorry about the 2 posts in one night, but when I came across this, I just had to stay up until 2AM to blog about it! Lots more to come tomorrow, I have so much to write about!!

Yours,
sCe

City of Champions!

Well, if you haven't heard, the Pens won the Stanley cup last night!!!!!!!! I was over at my bff kMl's house, where we watched the game and celebrated with Mojitos!! They are one of my favorite drinks, so here is one of the best recipes from the Food Network:
Ingredients
  • Ice
  • 6 ounces light rum
  • 12 mint sprigs, or spearmint, 8 roughly broken apart
  • 6 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • Club soda
  • 4 slices lime

Directions

Place ice in beverage shaker then add in the rum, 8 broken up mint sprigs, lime juice and sugar. Shake well and serve over ice in a high ball glass. Top off each glass with a splash of club soda.Garnish each with a slice of lime and a sprig of mint.

It was tons of fun being with all of my great girlfriends. Today bRc and I went to an Arts Festival downtown, it was a great day for being outside, and it was so fun to look at all of the art. Tonight I went to a neighbors grad party and wore the cutest Ann Taylor shift! It's navy blue, nantucket red and white and out of all the many dresses I own, I'd have to say it's one of my favorites! I'll put up a picture of it soon!

I was reading through a magazing, and saw these glasses featured:It's Bodum 10958 Presso Double Wall Glass .3 L/10 oz... They are double walled so you don't have any condensation to worry about, and they hold cold or hot beverages, so your hands will never be too cold or too hot! They have the rubber around the middle for grip and the rubber comes in many different colors, great for remember who's drink is who's. I haven't tried these yet, but I may just have to order a few, I like the kiwi color and the rasberry color. If you bough a set (set is 2 for $30) of the rasberry and a set of the kiwi, it would be great to have outdoor drinks that reflect your preppy side! You could even put the mojito in the pink glasses, so cute!

Also, I still need watch ideas! I found this inexpensive watch website called Pedre. They have watches for all different occassions whether it be fancy or a more casual affair. I think giving one of these watches as a graduation present would make a great gift. The watch to the right is one of my favorites! It is the 7715SX-pink croc and is only $97.50!

Well I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday night!

sCe

Here's to a long day

Today was such a great day. bRc and I went out to lunch at my favorite place, and we shopped around all of the boutiques in that area. bRc got a cute Banana Republic dress shirt on sale for only $20, so if you know any boys in need (father's day is in a little over 1 week!) , head over to BR.
We also stopped in this adorable pink and green boutique! It's called the Palm Place, and it has Lilly Pulitzer, Jack Rogers, Vineyard Vines, and Lacoste. I go to this area of town just to go to the boutique. Today I spotted the greatest VV shirt:
Isn't it the cutest? I can't stop thinking about it ever since I've seen it, I guess I'm in love! I can't find it on the VV website but I think it was around $165 which is too pricy for my college lifestyle, but I reccomend it to all who aren't on a college girl budget!

To my excitment, the Lilly Jeep was parked outside. I decided that I would love to get a picture with it so I went into the store and when I came out, I had my camera out and ready and it was awful! It was gone!!! I was so sad, I've seen a lot of you bloggers with pictures in front of the Lilly Jeep and have since thougt it makes such a cute colorful picture. Oh well, maybe next time!

I have a tip for all of you ladies out there that love Ralph Lauren. I was looking for something cute to wear to lunch with bRc, and I came accross this skirt:I forgot I had it! It is Ralph Lauren circa 2005 and it's kids! I can't believe I'm 19 and can still fit into childrens clothing, but it's great becuase a lot of it is a lot less expensive. You can't tell in the picture but the colors are very vibrant. I love this skirt and wore it with a white polo and silver metallic Tory Burch sandals. I got so many compliments on it today so that's why I thought I'd share it with you!
Also, when I got home from my busy day, my mom and sister had been shopping and brought me home this too cute casual shirt from Ralph Lauren Kids:It was purchased at Macy's for $9.99. What a steal! You can find it here. It's so cute and comfortable and perfect for a lazy Sunday.

For dinner, I dined at bRc's house and we had delicious steak and salmon with asparagus and potatos. It was delicious! Then we stopped over to a local church fair to play some bingo! It was a laugh, unfortunately bRc and I didn't win once! One of bRc's friends won a couple times, I guess some of us are just luckier than others!

Have a wonderful Thursday night, tomorrow is Friday :)!

Yours,
sCe

p.s. I know I said I'd post a picture of my favorite shoes today, but I didn't have time today, stay tuned for another post with those pictures!

Sneaks

I never wear tennis shoes unless I'm doing something active like working out. Being at a large university, I have to walk, a lot (a lot being an understatement). I wear out pairs of shoes in a month. My flip flops break, (first day of being at college, my favorite hot pink Steve Madden croc embossed sandals broke, I was quite embarrassed but thank goodness I was on the way back to my dorm) my flats wear out, and my feet are too cold in the winter to wear anything but Uggs (yes, they're ugly, but my oh my are they warm) or Bean Boots. I've gathered some of my favorite comfortable, and well made alternatives to the traditional sneaker:

Jack Purcell (converse), can also be found hereThese are the John Varvatos Jack Purcell shoes made by converse, these are the cutest in my opinion, my dad has these (they are unisex).
That's a picture of my dads, you can't tell in either picture, but the shoe isn't just pale blue, it's very fine seersucker, almost just pin-striped-esque.
Here are some more options:

Sperry Top-Sider Boat ShoesI'm sure most of you already know that these are the best shoes in the entire world! I was looking on the website and saw these and think they're cute (and they're only $50!)!

Rocket Dog Preppie Madras Boatshoe
These are a steal at $35, they are so fun, and look comfortable. however I've never seen them in person.

Tretorn

Have a fabulous day!

sCe
